This page shows a schedule of training courses available to staff, with guidance on how to sign up to sessions.
Please note this page is dynamic and new courses will be added as we move through the year so we'd encourage you to check back on a regular basis to see what's available.

Moodle
Key Moodle Basics *
A 90-minute session in Teams. Introduction to Moodle including adding resources and activities. or turn up in our training Team channel
Marking Online: Moodle Assignments *
A session for staff on how to mark submissions within a Moodle Assignment.
Marking Online: Turnitin Assignments *
A session for staff on how to mark submissions within a Turnitin Assignment.
Using H5P in Moodle *
An introduction to creating interactive activities you can use in your Moodle course.
Innovative Pedagogy in Moodle *
An intermediate course on applying good pedagogical practices to a Moodle module.
An intermediate course that goes through more advanced skills in Moodle.
Mahara
An introduction to the ePortfolio platform Mahara and how to use it to build an online portfolio.
A session going through the different assessment tools within Mahara as well as the integration into Moodle.
ExamSys
Introduction to ExamSys (In-person training course)
This in-person training course is designed to give you knowledge and understanding of how to use ExamSys to create paper types, go through paper settings and how to add question types to a paper. There will also be an opportunity to work on ExamSys using our guidance material. In order to obtain an ExamSys account you will need to complete this training.
Digital Accessibility
Digital Accessibility: The Core Nottingham Accessible Practices *
This session will introduce you to the Nottingham Accessibility Framework. We’ll talk about the ‘why’ of digital accessibility, we’ll look at the legal and user contexts, and then turn to the ‘how’ of digital accessibility.
Accessible Moodle content – Brickfield Accessibility+ Toolkit *
This session will look at using the Brickfield Accessibility+ Toolkit. You can use the toolkit with your Moodle module to help you identify accessibility issues and fix them, helping to make your Moodle content more accessible for all students.
Accessible learning materials - Word and PowerPoint *
This session aims to help you create accessible Word documents and PowerPoint presentations for use in your teaching and learning content.
Accessible learning materials - Multimedia *
This session will look at making multimedia materials accessible for students across the university.
Brickfield Accessibility Training - run externally by Brickfields
Staff at the university are able to attend accessibility courses run by Brickfield Education Labs.
Please note: This course is run externally and requires you to have a Zoom account.
Xerte
Creating learning materials using XERTE *
This session will provide an introduction to Xerte Toolkits. It will look at how the functionality with Xerte can be used to create learning materials that support the transfer of face-to-face materials to digital and how to structure these for effectiveness.
